U.S. Textiles and Apparel Imports Increased in April

The US Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel reported that monthly imports of cotton, wool, manmade fiber, silk blend, and non-cotton vegetable fiber textile and apparel products increased to 4.99 million square meter equivalents (MSME) in April 2018, an increase 1.1 percent compared to April 2017. Imports of textiles and apparel were 3.01 MSME in April 2018, up 1.4 percent from April 2017. Imports of apparel were 1.986 MSME in April 2018, up 0.7 percent from April 2017.

Imports of textiles and apparels were 20.568 MSME for the year-to-date April 2018, an increase of 5.0 percent from year-to-date April 2017. Imports of textiles were 12.037 MSME for the year-to-date April 2018, increase of 7.7 percent from the year-to-date April 2017. Apparel imports for the year-to-date April 2018 were 8.531 MSME, up 1.5 percent from
year-to-date April 2017.
