Almond Trees Come to Life
In Northern California, it’s the time of year when almond trees come to life, and there are a lot of them. From February to early March, the Central Valley sees a flurry of pink and purple petals come to life for the almond bloom. The California almond industry is a large and dynamic part of California agriculture and makes major contributions to the US exports. Globally, Northern California is the leader in producing and exporting almonds. In addition to great soil and water, almonds benefit from the kind of climate California offers, which is why California grows 80 percent of the world’s almond supply, according to the Almond Board of California (ABC).
With almond trees in bloom this month, Sacramento Valley Water released a drone video showing the vast orchards in Northern California.
